Capacity Planner

Schedules orders, distributes work, and optimizes production efficiency. Key tasks include tracking schedules, managing workloads, and adjusting plans to meet changing demands. The planner maintains a systemic focus on customer demand to balance the production schedule. Responsibilities also include processing work assignments in staffing, scheduling, coordinating, and planning, while considering established priorities and the availability or capability of workers, parts, materials, machines, and equipment. Coordination with the supply chain and support for production teams are essential. The role involves assisting in process improvements, analyzing data, and managing multiple requests. Effective communication with supervisors, departments, and customers is crucial. The planner will also run meetings and perform other duties as assigned.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily:

  • Schedule orders and distribute work to optimize production efficiency.
  • Track schedules and work progress using computer systems.
  • Manage workload to meet deadlines and priorities.
  • Support operational plans to ensure efficient production processes.
  • Monitor and adjust plans to meet changing demands.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment, materials, and parts.
  • Expedite orders and establish delivery dates.
  • Develop solutions to address shortages and ensure continuous production.
  • Work with supply change to coordinate timely delivery of materials and components.
  • Provide support to production teams to achieve operational goals.
  • Facilitate cross-training sessions.
  • Assist in initiatives to improve production processes and increase efficiency.
  • Support cross-functional projects for process improvement.
  • Analyze data to help decision-making and process improvements.
  • Manage multiple requests from inside and outside the department.
  • Communicate with supervisors to track work progress and changes in processing methods.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional departments to indicate priorities and deadlines.
  • Communicate professionally with customers on backdated orders or expedites.
  • Call and run meetings to ensure alignment and progress.
  • Conform with ISO 9001 & 14001 requirements.
  • Recommend new policies or procedures as necessary.
  • Participate in new product implementations and end-of-life transitions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Conform with the organization’s ISO 9001 & 14001 requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for this position. 

Education and/or Experience:

  • At least 1 year of production planning / scheduling experience; or 2 years of production support experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency in order processing, inventory, manufacturing and database software (MRP/ERP such as JDE or equivalent); possess a working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets and email.   

Language Ability

  • For business and safety reasons, ability to write reports and business correspondence in English and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, technicians, and assemblers in English.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the functions of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, stoop and kneel; use hands, reach with hands and arms; communicate clearly and effectively.  The employee may also be frequently required to lift up to 10 pounds.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position. 

The noise level in the work and shop environment is moderate to loud.

While performing the duties of this position the employee may occasionally be required to work near fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.  The employee may also be required to work near moving mechanical parts.

 

This is an in-office, in-person role in Phoenix, AZ.
