Drafting Technician

Curries (an ASSA ABLOY company) is expanding our Product Engineering Team. This role will be based out of our manufacturing facility located in Mason City, Iowa.

What would you do as our Drafting Technician?
You will develop manufacturing drawings from hardware templates, elevation drawings and drawing requests as well as create product literature drawings, maintain production databases and collaborate with various departments to answer drawing and product questions.
You would also:
- Create designs and drawings from hardware manufacturer’s templates, sketches, and engineering guidelines to support orders in a quick-turnaround environment.
- Create and modify drawings per requests from Manufacturing, Engineering and Customer Service.
- Contact hardware manufacturers by email and telephone to resolve questions.
- Provide designs and drawings for fixturing to aid manufacturing.
- Document changes and answers to questions as required.
- This position has the responsibility and authority to perform all job related quality activities as defined in this job description and in the specific related procedures and work instructions.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Continually promote a safe and harmonious working environment, demonstrating strict adherence to the ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct and ASSA ABLOY Health & Safety Policy
The Skills and Experience you need:
- Associates Drafting degree or equivalent with CAD experience preferred.
- Ability to read hardware templates, drawings, and follow guidelines to create manufactured drawings.
- Knowledge of SolidWorks and PDM Software plus previous related work experience is preferred.
- Understanding of sheet metal manufacturing processes.
- Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Detail oriented with strong organizational and follow-up skills.
- A dynamic team player who participates and works collaboratively with others.
