As our AUTO COLLATION MACHINE OPERATOR you’ll support HID’s success by: 

 

Summary

Responsible for setting up and operating an auto-collation machine used in the production of the company's products. works from process sheets and report written/verbal instructions given by supervisor to perform production tasks. Checks and inspects operation against predetermined tolerances. Requires simple oral communication skills, visual acuity, manual dexterity and successful completion of on-the-job training.


Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Pre-production activities:

  • Ensure your schedule is up to date for the day ahead and that you have all relevant information required to produce work correctly, job bag, proofs etc.
  • Ensure job material - printed core and overlay as per bill of material.
  • Acquiring approval on job run.
  • Printed sheet cleaning before collation.

 

Production:

  • Make ready of collation machine to attain quality process.
  • Optic sensor teaching based on printed sheet.
  • Report any quality concerns to team leaders/managers as well as documentation on job bag for next department.
  • Make sure all paperwork associated with the job is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Assist with managing space requirements within the production floor by relocation of completed jobs.
  • Production efficiency between planned vs actual

 

Other duties:

  • Assistance with monitoring stock and consumable levels as required.
  • To work as a team for the success of the CGC department and HID as a whole.
  • Housekeeping of pressroom to a high standard.
  • Assistance with troubleshooting and escalating the issues to your superior.
  • To assist managers and team leaders as required for benefit of production.

 

Education & Training:

  • Working with print production unit and help them achieve the best result possible.
  • To promote positive & progressive ideas for improvements and upgrades to new and existing products.
  • Training & education of internal staff, casuals, or contractors as required.

 

Maintenance, waste and KPI’s:

  • Ensure that all equipment is maintained to manufacturer’s specifications within time allocated as per schedule.
  • To pursue minimum waste generation and assist in implementing waste reduction strategies.
  • To strive for attainment to schedule and DIFOT (Delivery In Full, On Time).
  • Timely reporting of any issues preventing attainment to schedule and working with managers/team leaders to rectify non-productive time.
  • To achieve realistic and achievable KPI’s as set by management.
  • To safely dispose of all waste and consumable.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Whistleblowing – towards non-conformity production activities.
  • Safety – ensure your work environment is maintained to a safe standard.  Comply with all safety procedures and ensure your work practices keep you and your colleagues safe.
  • Machine – safe and competent operation of machine equipment.  A high focus on quality and performance with full compliance to scheme and security procedures. 
  • Adherence to schedule and KPI’s – to ensure client demands are met by attainment of schedule and performing to meet KPI’s as set by management.  To provide feedback on press issues and assist with finding solutions for non-productive time.
  • Security – ensure that any security requirements are adhered to, and that all relevant documentation for each job is completed correctly at time of production

 

Qualifications

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required

 

Education and/or Experience         

  • Minimum Diploma or certificate on printing technology.
  • Minimum Diploma or certification in Mechanical and Electrical discipline.
  • Experience in Printing Industry.

 

Language Skills                   

  • Ability to effectively communicate in the English language verbally and in writing.
                     

Computer Skills     

  • Basic computer knowledge.
