This acquisition allows ASSA ABLOY to enter the rapidly growing coiling steel market, establishing a strong presence on the US West Coast. Lawrence Doors, founded in 1925, has become part of the Business Segment Doors and Automation within ASSA ABLOY's Entrance Systems Division as of 2024.

 

Position Overview / Summary

We are seeking a dynamic General Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of Lawrence Doors. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the manufacturing and service industries, with a broad, up-to-date knowledge of the sector. The General Manager will set both short-term and long-term objectives, ensuring that company goals are met by effectively allocating resources and implementing processes and protocols. This role requires strong leadership skills to act as an intermediary between employees and upper management, providing guidance and support to all direct reports. A key aspect of this position is the ability to build and develop an effective management team responsible for all aspects of producing, marketing, and selling Lawrence Doors products.

 

Key Responsibilities

· Establish objectives for the company and formulate or approve policies and programs.

· Build and develop an effective management team capable of executing the company’s identified strategies.

· Review financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data to measure goal achievement and identify areas for improvement.

· Allocate materials and human/financial resources to implement company policies and programs; establish financial and administrative controls; approve overall personnel planning.

· Implement and drive operational excellence principles throughout the business.

· Identify, analyze, and implement cost-reduction strategies to enhance operational efficiency and profitability.

· Ensure compliance with the company’s safety and environmental programs.

· Oversee activities related to the manufacturing and supply of products, as well as the sales, marketing, and service of products.

· Plan, direct, and evaluate operations of establishments engaged in wholesale and retail sales (dealers and wholesalers).

· Analyze market research and trends to determine consumer demand, potential sales volumes, and the impact of competitors’ operations on sales.

· Represent the company, or delegate representatives, in negotiations or at official functions.

· Protect the organization’s value by maintaining confidentiality of protected and proprietary information.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

· A university degree or college diploma in engineering, business administration, commerce, or a related discipline.

· At least 5 years of managerial experience in a manufacturing and/or service environment.

· Specialization in a particular functional area is an asset.

· Strong understanding of sales, finance, and management principles.

· Proven track record of achieving performance goals.

· Excellent oral, written, and listening skills.

· Strong judgment and decision-making skills, with the ability to weigh the costs and benefits of potential actions.

· Ability to identify performance measures and actions needed to achieve organizational goals.

· Effective delegation skills, with the ability to set expectations and monitor progress.

· Ability to motivate, inspire, and provide feedback to employees, as well as accept and act on feedback.

· Strong prioritization and time management skills to achieve business targets.

· Effective communication skills at various organizational levels, including active listening and strong writing and verbal communication.

· Organized and detail-oriented approach to managing projects, priorities, and deadlines.

· Ability to inspire and lead teams to higher performance.

· Recognition of the importance of customer service.

· Strong problem-solving skills.

· Desire to identify, coach, and mentor emerging talent.

 

Physical Demands

· Ability to sit or stand for extended hours.

· Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.

 

Travel

· Occasional travel, including international destinations, will be required.

 

Details:

We offer a competitive salary based on experience and we understand the value of work-life balance. Compensation ranges from $148,369 - $209,462*.

 

* The wage range for this role considers a broad scope of factors that are considered when making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Lawrence Doors, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
